Many concerts and services take place throughout the year, both in School and at other venues in the local area. The aim is to provide all musicians with regular opportunities to perform, both as soloists and as members of ensembles. The main concert towards the end of each term features all the orchestras, bands and choirs and provides a celebration of the tremendous variety of music offered here.
Our main choir “Cantores Cryptiensis”, leads the school in the annual Remembrance Day Service held in the school as well as a traditional annual carol service. Powerful historic links are also reaffirmed in the annual Founders’ Day Service in Gloucester Cathedral. This service is a demonstration of The Crypt School Community and the Orchestra and Choir are at the heart of leading the school community of Students, Staff, Parents, past students and guests.
Our concert platform enables all students the opportunity to experience the challenge and the joy of live performance in addition to valuable performing experience and helps to prepare them for music exams and more advanced performances.
We are a “singing” school. We have four different choirs, in addition to numerous instrumental ensembles, led by highly qualified and experienced staff. Standards are high, but all ensembles are “open access” and inclusive.
All singers and instrumentalists are encouraged to join one of the School’s range of Instrumental and Vocal Ensembles. Performing in a musical ensemble is life affirming! Students are also encouraged to form their own musical ensembles.
