Has there ever been a more exciting time to study computer science? Not a day goes by where there is not a story in the news about data breaches, countries attempting to listen in on the communications of others and cyber-attacks. Our vision is to develop students’ digital literacy and computing skills, whilst enabling them to stay safe and make them aware of the dangers that surround living in this technological age.
Computer science is engaging and practical, encouraging creativity and problem solving. It encourages students to develop their understanding and application of the core concepts in computer science. Students also analyse problems in computational terms and devise creative solutions by designing, writing, testing and evaluating programs.
A large percentage of our computing students have gone onto pursue careers in computer science or apprenticeships. We work closely with the National Cyber Security Centre, which provides hardware so we can carry out hacking attempts on servers and set up networks using switches and laptops to demonstrate networking and communication.
