Here at The Crypt we encourage our students to participate in school productions annually.
2021 - The Jungle Book
We are very excited that School Productions can resume this year! After a two year pause due to the pandemic, we are now excited to announce that our production for this academic year will be 'The Jungle Book'. Rudyard Kipling's beloved tale of family, belonging and identity, will appear on The Crypt stage in an acclaimed adaptation by Jessica Swale (by arrangement with Nick Hern Books). Rehearsals are well underway with a fantastic cast from Years 7 to 13. We look forward to updating you soon!
2019 - Grease the Musical
Our most recent production, Grease was a fantastic show which we are all immensely proud of. From the acting, to the design, the lighting, smoke machines and spectacle of the show, it was brilliant. The cast was smaller this year than previous years which formed a very close-knit ensemble who supported each other through the process. We also welcomed some local primary schools through our doors this year to watch the performance, which was very successful. Sadly, some cast members will be leaving the school this year but are going off to do amazing courses at university level. One of our Y13s have been offered places to study Stage management at Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and Guilford school of Acting and we couldn't be more proud. Producing shows like Grease involve many students, staff and parents and couldn't be done without them.
Some special mentions must go to Emma Ward who did the amazing choreography, Malcom Hannaford who helped in many ways (including programmes, posters, microphones etc.), Sue Evans who created the many wonderful costumes and Alice Green who directed the show. Thank you to all! GREASE IS THE WORD...

2018 - Billy Elliot
In 2018 we staged Billy Elliot and yet again this involved many pupils and members of staff who helped on the nights of the show. Billy Elliot involved lots of individual characters and was rooted in a real time in history which resonated with many audience members. Throughout the production process for Billy Elliott, we raised money for Great Ormond Street Hospital and managed to donate over £700!

2017 - School of Rock
School of Rock was a large-scale musical involving over 60 pupils! The production involved some of our pupils getting involved in backstage, lighting and operating microphones. School of Rock was a show which involved smoke machines, flashing lights and lots of rocking out! This show was a special one for us as a school and remains in our memories.

2016 - Peter Pan
This production was a KS3 performance which involved music and songs from our former Musician in Residence (David Crowe). The production was magical and empowering both for those involved and members of the public who watched.
