Broadening Horizons

Students enjoy a rich and varied range of travel opportunities which both extend their learning, through the exploration of new ideas and cultures, and stretch their personal boundaries though outdoor challenge and adventure.

Year 7 begin their time at the School with a PGL activity camp.  The Modern Foreign Languages Department run an annual exchange with students in Germany and lead trips to France (Year 7) and the Rhineland.  Year 9 students are given the opportunity to participate in an annual outward bound trip to Club Corezze, in the south of France.  Year 12 Geography and Biology students enjoy an annual residential visit to Skern Lodge Field Study Centre in in North Devon. The RE department organise a week-long stay in a monastery in France.  The School organises an annual ski trip for all year groups: in 2010 the ski trip went to the USA; in 2011 to Austria and in 2012 the ski trip will visit Utah in the USA. The PE department undertook a cricket tour to Barbados in the summer of 2011 and is planning a rugby tour to South Africa in 2012.  In addition, there are numerous day trips to the theatre, to revision and examination conferences, to universities, including Oxford and many students also participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.
