Sports Leaders UK provides nationally recognised leadership awards and qualifications that help people develop essential life skills such as organisation, motivation, communication and working with others. All of the awards and qualifications are practical - candidates learn by doing rather than through written work. And, we don't do exams - assessment is made upon a candidate's ability to lead and demonstrate their leadership skills for a certain period of time, within a specific setting.

Candidates don't need to be sports stars or prima ballerinas - instead an interest in their chosen activity, a positive attitude and a willingness to volunteer are all that is required.

The award has three levels.

Sports Leaders UK Level 1 - Junior Sports Leadership
The Sports Leaders UK Level 1 Award in Sports Leadership is a nationally recognised qualification that enables successful candidates to lead small groups in simple sport and recreational activities whilst under the direct supervision of their tutor.

Sports Leaders UK Level 2 - Community Sports Leadership
The Sports Leaders UK Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership is a nationally recognised qualification that enables successful candidates to independently lead small groups of people in sport and recreational activities.

Sports Leaders UK Level 3 - Higher Sports Leadership
The Sports Leaders UK Level 3 Award in Higher Sports Leadership is a nationally recognised qualification that enables successful candidates to lead un-supervised groups of people in sport and recreational activities. This qualification builds upon the skills and experience gained through the Sports Leaders UK Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership.

The qualification teaches generic leadership skills such as organisation, planning, communication and teamwork through the medium of sport. It is a fun and practical qualification, with the only entrance requirement being that candidates should have successfully completed the Sports Leaders UK Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership; however there are no final examinations to sit.

At The Crypt School, students can start the Sports Leaders UK Junior Sports Leadership in Year 10 and proceed through the Sports Leaders UK Community Sports Leadership to the Sports Leaders UK Higher Sports Leadership awards in Years 11-13.

As at June 2010 over 30 students had enrolled in the scheme.
