This is an accreditation scheme for curriculum-based international work in schools.
It takes a year to firstly submit an application outlining the work your school intends
to do and then once this has been accepted schools must produce a portfolio of work
which is submitted to the British Council in July.
Competition is steep but once the award has been won the school retains the status
for 3 years.
The ISA supports schools to develop:
- An international ethos embedded throughout the school
- A majority of pupils within the school impacted by and involved in international
work
- Collaborative curriculum-based work with a number of partner schools
- Curriculum-based work across a range of subjects
- Year round international activity
- Involvement of the wider community
- Evaluation from a variety of sources allowing you to improve your activities and
your international programme.
At Crypt the seven curriculum areas which showed evidence of International learning
are:
- Modern Foreign languages and their work with partner schools in France, Germany and
Switzerland
- Business Studies and their links with a school in Spain
- Geography - doing a climate awareness project linking with pupils across the world
through a project funded by Plan International
- Chinese lessons for all Y7 and Y8 for a term with a visiting teacher from China
- Citizenship :work about the E.U
- English: Poetry from other cultures
- Music and Art: Indonesian culture
In addition we submitted evidence of the many visits abroad, foreign visitors into
the schools and other events which contribute to the wide ranging educational experience
the pupils receive.
