Bill Spear is retiring after 28 years of service at the Crypt School. The popular deputy headteacher leaves at the end of the school year.
Bill started at the Crypt as a Geography teacher in 1981. Following a successful application, he moved up to deputy headteacher in 1988 and enjoyed two periods of acting head in 1996 and 2003.
At a well attended evening, Jonathan Standen, Crypt Headteacher, said of Bill “His contribution to the school has been tireless. To many of our students Bill is simply ‘Mr. Crypt’.”
