Crypt: Gloucester's only Science School

At the end of Year 11, pupils who have appropriate qualifications, are encouraged to enter the Sixth Form for a two year course of AS and A2 subjects. We are joined by an increasing number of students, including females, from other schools.

All pupils can take ‘A’ Levels in the subjects previously taken to GCSE level , and further courses of ‘A’ level study are also available,  for example in Computer Studies, Accountancy, Theatre Studies. The  move into the Sixth form marks a distinct point in a young person’s development.

It is a progression into a more adult environment and this school believes that all adults working among young people have an unavoidable responsibility for helping with the effective running of the school. Senior students present important role models for younger pupils. This means that, although all members of the Sixth form have specific supervisory duties allocated to them, this does not mark the limit of their responsibility.

Many members of the Sixth Form value the opportunity to show initiative and responsibility in organising events and shows - such as House Football competitions and productions of “Grease”, “The Duchess of Malfi”, “Bugsy Malone” and “Much Ado about Nothing” in recent years. The Young Enterprise (Year 12) ran a very successful Tuck Shop and won The Young Enterprise Financial Trophy at a recent awards ceremony.
